“The brief was to bring a sense of light and airiness, replacing the 80’s lean-to and reworking the original build. Making use of the existing footprint and topping the existing foundations to reconcile the levels, a sunken living space was achieved ,along with the comforts of modern living. This space is both connected and separate. Maintaining access to the existing cellar as well as a ‘friends’ front door’ to bypass the formal entry was essential.”
